Sonia specializes in art direction and fashion styling

Toronto-based fashion stylist and costume designer, Sonia Chedli, seamlessly blends her background in psychology, fine art history, and design to craft compelling visual narratives. A graduate of the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree, Sonia’s passion for design led her to Paris, where she refined her creative vision at the renowned Studio Berçot fashion design program.

While in France, Sonia gained invaluable experience assisting editors at Vogue Hommes International and Dapper Dan Magazine, where she discovered her love for editorial storytelling through photography. These early experiences inspired her to create her own fashion stories, contributing to prominent international publications.

Sonia’s distinctive aesthetic is rooted in her meticulous attention to detail, trend forecasting abilities, and deep appreciation for the research and development process. Her expertise lies in sourcing extraordinary visual elements, from rare objects to innovative textiles and garments, ensuring her work is both unique and impactful.

Since 2020, Sonia has expanded her creative repertoire by joining the IATSE Local 873 film union in Toronto as a costume department permittee. Her credits include See (Apple TV, Seasons 2 & 3), Station Eleven (HBO Max), The Big Cigar (Apple TV), and the indie feature Shook, an official selection at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2023, Sonia earned a certificate in Graphic Design and Visual Communication from OCAD University, deepening her expertise in art direction and digital photography. Outside of her professional work, she decompresses through hands-on crafts like collage, pottery, and screen printing. With aspirations to delve into product design, Sonia is continuously evolving her skill set to explore new creative frontiers.
